VALARE INDEPENDCE DESIGNS
VALERÉ — Nigerian Independence Day Capsule
For Independence Day, Valeré wanted pieces that felt unmistakably Nigerian. Not just the flag on a tee, but the language and humour Naija people actually live with.
The concept: take the phrases everyone knows and turn them into graphics.
"Omo To Sexy" baby tee A green-and-white raglan cut with a raw notch neckline and studded sleeve hems. The front carries a flowing vintage script with studded detailing, with an eagle (the national symbol from the coat of arms) bursting out of the lettering. A Valeré script logo sits at the lower back. The palette comes straight from the flag.
"If U No Get Money, Hide Your Face" tee A well-known Naija saying, delivered loud. Studded graffiti-style lettering in a green gradient sits above a grainy black-and-white photo of faces hidden behind hands, turning the phrase into an image. "HIDE YOUR FACE" repeats frame the artwork, and a bold VALERE wordmark anchors it. It was developed in three versions: white with a single face, white with a group, and washed black with a group, all on distressed, worn-in bodies.
The result is a capsule that celebrates Nigeria through its own voice: funny, proud and recognisable to anyone from the culture.
